MEMBER FOR KOMBO SOUTH PARTICIPATES IN BUDGET PREPARATION FOR THE ECOWAS PARLIAMENT

The National Assembly Member for Kombo South, Honourable Kebba K Barrow on Sunday returns from a weeklong assignment in preparation of the preliminary draft Budget of the ECOWAS Parliament for the year 2023 in Lome, Togo.
The former Majority leader of the Gambian Parliament who is the Chairperson of the Macro – Economic and Economic Policy Research of ECOWAS Parliament served on the adhoc committee to decide on budget priorities for the subregional bloc.
The Committee on Macro – Economic Policy and Economic Research is responsible for the performance of member states in relation to the Macro-economic convergence criteria set out in the ECOWAS Convergence and Stability Pact. The committee also administers the economic analysis and country performance in the direction of research and statistics.
Hon. Barrow echoed his committee’s mandate to promote a microcredit financing policy for the benefit of rural populations as well as the convergence of budget deficit, inflation levels, and economic, Macro-economic and monetary policies for the stability of Member States. This, he said is so to allow for the advent of the ECOWAS single currency.
