DATA PROTECTION AND PRIVACY BILL, 2024

Summary

This Bill seeks to enhance substantial provisions with respect to Data Protection and Privacy and to establish the basic principles underlying the lawful processing of data, the rights of data subjects, the legal obligations of controllers and processors, trans- border data flows. The Bill defines offences, penalties as well as exceptions and empowers the law enforcement agencies and establishes regulatory oversight mechanisms for the processing of personal data in promoting and protecting human rights and fundamental freedoms of individuals and in particular, the rights to privacy in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of The Republic of The Gambia
