The Gambia to convene Historic Tripartite Conference on Latimer House Principles

The National Assembly in collaboration with the Executive and the Judiciary, will convene a landmark Tripartite Conference on the Commonwealth (Latimer House) Principles from 22nd to 24th July 2026 at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre.

Themed "Upholding the Rule of Law and Democratic Balance: A Tripartite Engagement on the Latimer House Principles in The Gambia," the conference will bring together the three organs of government for the first time in a dedicated forum aimed at strengthening inter-branch collaboration.

The Latimer House Principles, adopted by Commonwealth Heads of Government in 2003, provides the International Standard for the separation of powers between the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary.

The conference is expected to produce key deliverables, including a National Action Plan on the Latimer House Principles (2026–2029) and a Memorandum of Understanding for regular dialogue between the Speaker, the Chief Justice, and the President.
